INDIA VS NEW ZEALAND SECOND T20I MATCH PREVIEW

Going by the historical trends against New Zealand, Team India would be proud of the way they have begun the T20I series. It was a perfect beginning to their first away tour of 2020 as they registered their fourth 200+ chase in T20Is.

Team India would be very pleased with the contributions of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul; especially Shreyas Iyer, who made a stunning 58*(29) to help his side to a fabulous victory once Kohli got out leaving India in a tricky situation.

New Zealand would be very happy with the contributions from their batsmen, but it is their inexperienced bowling that couldn’t create much pressure. Without their key bowlers, Boult, Henry, and Lockie, they need to bring in much more discipline to keep this Indian batting line-up quiet.

India currently lead the 5-match T20I series 1-0. If they manage to win the second T20I, it would mark the first time that Team India would win back-to-back T20Is against New Zealand.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Another high scoring encounter as the same ground is going to be used for the second T20I too. The weather would be clear with clean skies, and an average temperature in the mid-20s.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH-OUT FOR

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma had a luke-warm beginning to his first away tour of the year. Having known Rohit, he would be itching to make an impact in the second T20I. If he gives himself some time at the start, expect Rohit to score big on this small ground.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul currently is in the form of his life. Be it batting at any position or keeping, he is coming out with flying colours with an impressive performance in each department. While he stuck a well-compiled half-century in the first T20I, expect him to continue with his fine form even in the second T20I.

Martin Guptill

Martin Guptill showed some signs of attacking cricket in the first T20I. He looked like getting a big one, but unfortunately got out on 30. With his confidence on the rise, and the short boundaries, he could be the Kiwi to watch out for.

EXPECTED PLAYING 11- TEAM INDIA

Though not official, it is understood that Navdeep Saini wasn’t selected because he had a serious jet lag having travelled for the first time in this part of the world. But, he should recover in time, and we should expect him to take Shardul’s place, who was horrible in the first T20I.

New Zealand should mostly retain their playing 11 with another opportunity to impress Blair Tickner and Hamish Bennett. Tim Seifert meanwhile may be promoted at number 4 to get some game time.

Here are the predicted playing 11 for Team India and New Zealand for the second T20I.
