INDIA VS SRI LANKA (SL) 3RD T20I PREVIEW
India had a fantastic start to their 2020 campaign on account of a comfortable win against their island neighbours in the second T20I. Navdeep Saini led the bowling charts with some fabulous pacey bowling, and other players contributed equally.
Now that India are 1-0 up in the three-match series, it can either go 2-0 or 1-1 as the first match was being washed-out. While the probability of it being 2-0 looks high, Sri Lanka would want to invest some life in the series by being more productive on the field.
After defeating Pakistan in their own backyard, Sri Lanka are finding themselves in a spot of bother with 4 consecutive losses. While the team is inexperienced, they need to show some more competitiveness. They have the talent- just a matter of execution.
For India, the top-order would once again be in focus as Shikhar Dhawan finds himself in a serious competition with KL Rahul for the second opening slot. Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, hasn’t had the bests of T20Is as against his ODI performance since his comeback. Both would be under observance in the third T20I.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The match night in Pune is expected to be clean with no probability of rain. This should please the fans who would be coming in abundance to witness the all-important clash. The pitch is expected to offer a lot of runs, and should assist the team batting second as the history goes.
KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH-OUT FOR
Being one of Team India’s most prolific openers in recent times, Shikhar Dhawan finds himself in the spot of bother. The rise of KL Rahul has only made life difficult for the ‘struggling for form’ Shikhar Dhawan. He had a decent outing in the second T20I, but that would not be enough to make an impression.
Shreyas Iyer has impressed everyone since his comeback in the Indian Team. He is almost certain to seal the all-important number 4 slot in ODIs, but looking at these numbers closely, his T20I performance seems below-par.
In the 10 T20Is he has played since his comeback, he could only manage 177 runs at an average of 29.5. This doesn’t match his ODI stats where he has been phenomenal. We hope he gets back to track with some runs under his belt in T20Is.
Not so long ago, the talented Avishka Fernando made the headlines with some amazing batting in the 2019 World Cup. Since then, he has been with a consistent member of the Sri Lankan team. This would be a golden opportunity for him to impress everyone in the Indian conditions, and we expect him to do that.
Team India look unlikely to make any changes to their winning 11. The bowlers looked in wonderful shape, and batters did a decent job in the chase. Hence, expect Kohli to stick to the same winning combination in the final T20I.
Sri Lanka, however, would see few changes in the squad. Angelo Mathews looks certain to play as Sri Lanka would not want to miss his wealth of experience. Meanwhile, Lakshan Sandakan should replace the injured Isuru Udana.
India vs SL Third T20I Predicted Playing 11 for Team India:
Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli (C), Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(WK), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, and Jasprit Bumrah
India vs SL Third T20I Predicted Playing 11 for Sri Lanka:
