Jhye Richardson joins the injury list for World Cup 2019

After South Africa, Australia suffer a huge blow as the young speedster, Jhye Richardson is set to miss the ICC World Cup 2019 owing to a shoulder injury. He had a dislocated shoulder in the ODI series against Pakistan, and he hasn’t recovered in time for the showpiece event.

Just 12 ODI’s old, Jhye Richardson has picked 24 wickets, and has impressed one and sundry with his bowling. He has been instrumental in Australia’s ODI series win in India, picking up 7 wickets in the 5 games. These performances earned him a ticket to the World Cup, which now, unfortunately, succumbed to an injury.

KANE RICHARDSON NAMED AS REPLACEMENT

Kane Richardson is named the replacement for him in the squad. He had been on the reckoning for a spot in the squad, following his dream run at the BBL. In BBL 2019, he picked up 24 wickets at an average of 17.71, ending the tournament as the highest wicket-taker. His bowling exploits contributed a lot to the Melbourne Renegades’ successful campaign as they won their maiden BBL title.

Jhye Richardson expressed his disappointment in not being able to recover in time for the mega event.

If I’m going to be brutally honest, it hasn’t been that easy to accept, World Cups don’t come around every day, so it’s been tough. I’ve got the right people around me. The guys are fantastic, they’ve been really supportive every step of the way. I’ve done everything I can, it just wasn’t meant to be and I’m at peace with it.

His words reflect how much the world cup meant to him. So, now that World Cup is ruled out of his schedule, he is gearing up to recover completely and earn a spot for his first Ashes series.

We wish Jhye Richardson a speedy recovery and hope to see him soon in action.
