Rishabh Pant equals this unique 46-year-old record set by Faroukh Engineer

Rishabh Pant, the 21-year-old left-handed Indian wicket-keeper batsman has equaled a 46-year-old unique record set by Farokh Engineer. The left-hander recorded a career-high ranking of 17 after the final test match played between Australia and India. 

Faroukh Engineer, one of the highly-rated wicket-keepers had gained a career-high ranking of 17 with a rating of 619 in 1973. Rishabh Pant gained 21 places to jump to the 17th position on the list of ICC Test match Batting rankings. His rating of 673 also happens to be the highest among all Indian wicket-keepers. 

MS Dhoni with a rating of 662 had the highest rating by an Indian wicket-keeper batsman previously. He was ranked 19th when he did that in 2010. Rishabh Pant had a fantastic series as he scored 350 runs and took 20 catches in the recently concluded series against Australia. 

After India’s first series victory in Australia, there were some changes in the ranking of a few players. Apart from Rishabh Pant, Cheteshwar Pujara too gained in the rankings as he jumped to 3rd place behind Kane Williamson. Virat Kohli continues to lead the ranking table with a rating of 922.

Jasprit Bumrah maintained his ranking of 17 while Ravindra Jadeja gained a spot to go to the 5th position. Kuldeep Yadav too achieved a career-best ranking of 45 after his impressive performance of 5/99.
