Match Details:

Match 13 KXIP vs MI
Location Abu Dhabi
Date & Time Thursday, Oct 1 || 7:30 pm IST

IPL 2020 – KXIP v MI Match Preview:

Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians; both have played 3 games so far having won 1 each, and losing two. However, on the points table, KXIP are ranked higher because of their stupendous run-rate. Moreover, comparing the teams, KXIP have looked a better team having lost a super-over match to Delhi Capitals, and a close game against RR.

Kings XI Punjab have looked good in all the three encounters so far. They have played like a team, and gave a tough fight in all the three matches. They had a chance to win all the three matches, but a mistake or two cost them 4 valuable points. Nevertheless, this is just the beginning of the tournament, and if they work on their mistakes, they can go a long way.

Mumbai Indians’ campaign started with a defeat against CSK before making a superb comeback against KKR. In the third match, they were almost out of the game with around 90 needed from last 5 overs, but Pollard and Kishan played blinder knocks to bring them back in the game. However, just like KXIP, they suffered heartbreak in the super-over.

IPL 2020 KXIP vs MI Predicted XIs:

Kings XI Punjab seem to have found their ideal combination at least till there’s something for the pacers on the pitch. They can continue currently by not playing Mujeeb, and persist with Cottrell. The only change they can think of is bringing in Gayle, if he is fit. Else, expect the same XI from them.

IPL 2020 KXIP vs MI – Kings XI Punjab Predicted 11:

KL Rahul (C&WK), Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Sarfaraz Khan, James Neesham, Ravi Bishnoi, Murugan Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, and Sheldon Cottrell.

Mumbai Indians brought back Ishan Kishan for injured Saurabh Tiwari, and given the kind of performance, Kishan gave, he should continue in the XI. Apart from this, the only change Mumbai Indians can think of is bringing in Nathan Coulter-Nile for slightly rusty James Pattinson.

IPL 2020 KXIP vs MI – Mumbai Indians Predicted 11:

Quinton de Kock (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, James Pattinson /  Nathan Coulter-Nile, Trent Boult, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Key Player Selections:

Batsmen: Nicholas Pooran, KL Rahul, and Quinton de Kock.

For KXIP so far, It has been all about the openers. They have delivered all the three matches so dar, hence the middle-order hasn’t had a good batting-time in the middle. Nicholas Pooran did show glimpses of form in the last match against Rajasthan Royals, and given the bowling MI have, Nicholas Pooran would have a big role to play.

KL Rahul has been in ominous touch so far. Apart from the first match, where was undone by a stunner, KL has looked matured in his approach. He has been cautious at the start, and dangerous in the back overs. If he continues with the same approach, he is a safe pick.

Apart from a good start in the first match, Quinton de Kock hasn’t had success in the next two matches. He was MI’s best batsman last season, and Mumbai would need their key batsman to get back to form. If he calms his nerves for the initial few balls, expect a good knock from De Kock.

All-rounders: Hardik Pandya and Glenn Maxwell

Hardik Pandya has played as a pure batsman so far in the tournament with injury keeping him out of bowling action. However, he hasn’t done justice with the batting given how he contributed in 2019. he certainly doesn’t look out of form, but it is only about the temperament in the middle.

Glenn Maxwell hasn’t impressed with the bat so far in the tournament given all the hype he had around him after his stunning 2014 campaign, and his current International form. He would be a key batsman against the strong bowling line-up of Mumbai Indians.

Bowlers: Trent Boult, Mohammed Shami, and Ravi Bishnoi

With all the attention on Jasprit Bumrah’s below-par performance with the ball, Trent Boult’s brilliant performance has gone unnoticed.  He is team’s leading wicket-taker so far, and has bowled well in all the three matches. Expect him to continue his good run with the ball.

Similar to Boult, Mohammed Shami has been KXIP’s best bowler and leading wicket-taker so far. The Abu Dhabi pitch should definitely benefit him again, and if he can control his line and length, expect Shami to be lethal once again.

Playing only his fourth match, Ravi Bishnoi has bowled with all the maturity so far. He has taken three wickets in three matches, but has bowled way better than the stats look. If he keeps the same mettle, he will definitely get more wickets in the coming matches.

Captain & Vice-Captain Pick: Trent Boult and Mohammed Shami
