Match 21 KKR vs CSK

Date & Time Wednesday, Oct 7 || 7:30 pm IST

IPL 2020 – KKR v CSK Match Preview:

One-third tournament is already completed, and how fast the time flew, we could hardly notice. Nevertheless, we now have the battle of heavyweights as back in form, Chennai Super Kings take on slightly off-colour, Kolkata Knight Riders. Both have two wins so far, but CSK have lost three, while KKR have lost two.

Kolkata Knight Riders got their batting-order horribly wrong in the last match against Delhi Capitals. They persisted with Narine as the opener, which was fine, but they played their second opener, Rahul Tripathi at 8 ( after Pat Cummins). They also sent Andre Russell when 12 overs were pending and that resulted in Morgan playing very few balls. They need to sort this batting-order tomorrow if they have to get back to winning ways.

Chennai Super Kings, meanwhile, came back stronger after three consecutive losses. A 10-wicket victory should have done a lot of good to their confidence. However, their bowling still remains a challenge, and they desperately need a wicket-taker in the Middle-overs. Tahir is their option, but at the expense of whom?

IPL 2020 – KKR vs CSK Predicted XIs:

Kolkata Knight Riders may go unchanged, but should see a change in their batting-order. They might persist with Narine as the opener again, but Ideally, they shouldn’t. Rahul Tripathi at 7 or 8 isn’t a wise option either. He may have hit a quickfire knock the other day, but that’s not what his strength is.

IPL 2020 KKR vs CSK – Kolkata Knight Riders Predicted 11:

Sunil Narine  Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik (C&WK), Andre Russell, Rahul Tripathi, Pat Cummins, Kamlesh Nagarkoti,  Shivam Mavi, and Varun Chakravarthy.

Chennai Super Kings might go unchanged too seeing how the team performed against KXIP.

IPL 2020 KKR vs CSK – Chennai Super Kings Predicted 11:

Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (C&WK), Dwayne Bravo, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and Piyush Chawla.

Key Player Selections:

Batsmen: Ambati Rayudu, Shubman Gill, and Faf du Plessis

Ambati Rayudu didn’t get a chance to bat in the last match as Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson batted the entire innings to secure a 10 wickets win. However, that may not be the case always. Rayudu looked good in the first match, but didn’t bat much after 2 missed matches due to injury. He should be a good bet for tomorrow.

Meanwhile, his teammate, Faf du Plessis looks in some amazing form at the moment. Even the law of averages isn’t taking a beating the way Faf is playing. Ideally, one should not select him tomorrow, but given the form he is in, not taking him would be a bit risky.

Shubman Gill has looked in great touch so far in the competition. He has played with a lot of confidence, and has been one of the players to watch-out for. While he failed in the last match at Sharjah, not selecting him against CSK would be a brave call. Ideally, one should not do that mistake.

All-rounders: Andre Russell

It’s been 4 matches for KKR, but we are yet to see an Andre Russell blazing knock in the competition. He did play a few small cameos, but that’s not the Andre Russel we know. Can tomorrow be that night we see an Andre Russell special? Let’s wait and watch. Moreover, he has been bowling excellent, and those are some valuable points you can’t ignore.

Bowlers: Pat Cummins, Deepak Chahar, and Piyush Chawla.

Pat has looked slightly off-colour in the last couple of matches. While one was the pitch of Dubai, other was the run-feast pitch of Sharjah. He is the leader of the pace attack, and looking at the grass cover, Pat should do well in Abu Dhabi tomorrow.

Looking at the grass cover on the pitch, Deepak Chahar would lick his fingers. His potent weapon is swing, and expect him to bowl at the least three overs in the power play. Moreover, he has looked good with ball, and has improved game on game.

Piyush Chawla could be a wild entry tomorrow in your team. Firstly, there’s an assistance of wrist spinners on this pitch if you bowl in right channels. Secondly, Piyush would be up against his former side, and that should excite him to perform well. Watch out for him in the Middle-overs as he might get you a few wickets’ points.

Captain & Vice-Captain Pick: Andre Russell and Ambati Rayudu
