India vs Pakistan locked on August 28 as we look at the official schedule download for Asia Cup 2022.

After rounds of changes in the dates and location, the Asian Cricket Council headed by Mr Jay Shah has officially announced the schedule for Asia Cup 2022. As expected, the tournament officially kicks off on August 27 with the final set to be played on September 11 in Dubai.

The location of the tournament is officially moved to UAE given the financial and climate crisis challenges in Sri Lanka. However, Sri Lanka still remains the official host of the tournament. From the UAE, the tournament shall be played only at 2 locations; Dubai and Sharjah.

Meanwhile, blockbuster India vs Pakistan match is set to be played on August 28 in Dubai. Given the format division into groups followed by Super 4, there are high chances India and Pakistan would meet at least twice. This would be a great boost to the broadcasters.

Tournament Format Explanation:

The format for 2022 will be different from the 2018 edition, which was a 50-overs format. Given the precedence of World Cup 2022, the Asia Cup 2022 shall be conducted in T20 format. The tournament would be a great practice arena for the all-important T20 World Cup 2022.

A total of 13 matches shall be played in the whole tournament including the final. This includes 6 group stage matches and 6 Super four matches. All matches shall begin at 7:30 pm IST with Indian timings in mind to get better revenue returns.

The teams are divided into two groups with Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh in Group A. Whereas India, Pakistan, and Qualifier shall be in Group B. The Qualifier shall be one of UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, or Hong Kong. These four teams will be playing Qualifiers before playing the official tournament.
