IPL 2022: Final Squad Players List for all the 10 Teams by Cricalytics

A total of 204 players were sold in the auction as we look at the final squad players list of all the teams post IPL 2022 Auction.

Two days of the marathon event, the Indian Premier League 2022 Mega Auction came to a successful end. A total of 204 players were sold in the auction including a total of 66 overseas players. INR 551.7 Cr was spent in the auction – that’s roughly INR 2.7 Cr per player. This is in addition to INR 324.2 Cr being spent to retain 33 players.

Overall, the IPL 2022 was a successful affair where teams were able to construct fantastic teams using Batters, Wicket-keepers, All-rounders, and bowlers. While a few teams like CSK and Delhi Capitals were focused more on building an Indian core, the teams like LSG and Punjab Kings were focused on purchasing all-rounders.

Statistically, the IPL 2022 now has a total of 237 players in 10 teams. CSK, KKR, MI, and PBKS are the only teams to have completely utilized the maximum quota of 25 players. Lucknow Super Giants have the least number of players, 21. Out of a total of 237 players, there are roughly 76 Batters and Wicket-keepers, 78 All-rounders, and 73 bowlers.

So, with the IPL 2022 Auction done and dusted, let’s look at the final squad players list of all the teams post the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. For our easy understanding, we will look at squads of all the teams across 3 major categories; Batters and WKs, All-rounders, and Bowlers.

#1: Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Total Squad Strength: 25

CSK purchased a total of 21 players at the Auction. Their most expensive buy was Deepak Chahar at INR 14 Cr. While they retained most of their core, they let go of some good players like Faf du Plessis, Josh Hazlewood, and Shardul Thakur.

However, some interesting addons include Dwaine Pretorious, Adam Milne, Devon Conway, Shivam Dube, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, and Chris Jordan. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are priced at 6 by Betway to be the outright winner of the IPL this year.
