The Indian Premier League is a tournament where you see some of the best players in the world, and the superstars of the game gracing the tournament with their presence. Aside from Team India’s best players from both the emerging and senior categories, we see many global superstars from Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, etc. Some of the big names playing in the tournament include Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Andre Russell, Heinrich Klaasen, etc.

With so many superstar players in the tournament, they are nicely spread across the 10 teams to give each team a brilliant competitive power. While Team India are the latest champions of the T20 World Cup having won the 2024 edition, three of their first-choice World Cup-winning playing 11 have already retired from the International format. But thankfully, all three are still available to play in the Indian Premier League.

So, if we have to consider the current best playing 11 for Team India with respect to the Indian Premier League, and bid them against the best global superstars playing in the tournament, which team will come out stronger? Well, let’s look at the current best playing 11 for Team India vs the Overseas superstar players for IPL 2025 basis their performance in the Indian Premier League and International format for the last 2 years.

Team India vs Overseas Players 11 for IPL 2025

Starting with the best openers among Indian players vs that of Overseas players, we have Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli for Team India, and Travis Head and Sunil Narine for Team Overseas. Both Jaiswal and Kohli have been scoring tons of runs in the IPL, and have also been doing well at the International stage. It’s a great combo with Yashasvi Jaiswal as the aggressor, and Kohli as more watchful. Whereas for the Overseas team, Head and Narine are belligerent, and in their day, can take the opposition to ashes.

In terms of middle order, we have, we have Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Rinku Singh for Team India. Whereas for Team Overseas, we have Jos Buttler, Nicholas Pooran, and David Miller. Now, on paper, Indian players are no match as you cannot have a better trio than Jos Buttler, Nicholas Pooran, and David Miller in the middle order. However, SKY is a world-class batter, and Rinku and Pant are strong batters in the middle order with proven IPL credentials. But technically, Team Overseas wins this round.

Batting Depth vs Quality Bowlers

Talking about finishers and all-rounders, we have Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel for Team India. Whereas for Team Overseas, we have Heinrich Klaasen and Andre Russell. Well, technically India are focused more on batting depth, and for Overseas team, if you have players like Klaasen and Russell at 6 and 7, you don’t need batting depth at all. But it is a tie again, and both teams have strong finishers and all-rounders.

Coming to the bowlers, we have Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, and 3 All-rounders in the bowling lineup for Team India. Whereas among Overseas players, we have Matheesha Pathirana, Trent Boult, Jofra Archer, Rashid Khan, and 2 All-rounders. On paper, Overseas players once again have a strong bowling lineup with 5 of the 6 bowlers being potential wicket-takers. But India chose batting depth, and hence have to rely on all-rounders to complete 8 overs.
