The pitches in the USA generally offer high-scoring content. However, all will depend on the toss. If India bat first, expect a run-feast with India scoring in excess of 200, and registering a big win over Ireland. However, if India bowl first, they could see chasing a modest total of around 120-130. Even though Ireland are no mug by any means, the current bowling attack of India is too good for the Irish.

If we talk about the best playing 11 for Team India, the first question for Team India will be who opens alongside Rohit Sharma. Well, India opened with Sanju Samson in the Warmup match as both Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t participate. But it looks unlikely India will play Sanju Samson in their first match vs Ireland. It was more of a trial to play Sanju, and unfortunately, he didn’t do well either. 

Between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli, India should stick to their original plan of playing Yashasvi Jaiswal as the opener with Virat Kohli playing at the number 3 position. This was definitely the plan for Team India when they selected the squad, and hopefully, they stick to it. However, Yashasvi did have a minor niggle, so hopefully, he recovers in time for the match. 

Coming to the middle-order, India should have the World’s number 1 T20 batter, Suryakumar Yadav at 4, and India’s first-choice wicket-keeper, Rishabh Pant at number 5. It looks unlikely India will opt for Shivam Dube for this game, and will mostly stick with Jaiswal as the opener. If at all India opt to play Shivam Dube, it should mostly be for one of the all-rounders. However, that move looks unlikely for now. 

For the All-rounders, there shouldn’t even be a debate. But the strategy that Team India may adopt is to play Axar Patel as an extra spin all-rounder at the number 8 position. With Axar Patel at 8, India have good batting depth, and there is not much pressure on Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. With Axar playing, India should mostly opt out with Chahal, who didn’t participate in the Warm-up match either. 

Talking about the first-choice bowling, Jasprit Bumrah should lead the pace bowling for Team India, and Kuldeep Yadav should lead the spin bowling for Team India. With these two as the two best bowlers for Team India, Arshdeep Singh should support them as the third proper bowler in the side. Apart from these three frontline bowlers, India will use Hardik, Jadeja, and Axar as the other three bowlers.
