IPL 2024 Retained Players Squad List for all 10 Teams

A total of 173 players in focus as we look at the complete official retained squad and players list for all 10 team ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. 

The D-Day has finally arrived, and after the World Cup 2023 final debacle, Cricket fans have something to cheer for. As the deadline to submit the official player retentions for IPL 2024 concludes, a total of 173 players have been retained by all 10 franchises ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. While 123 Indian players have been retained, a total of 50 overseas players were also retained. 

However, ahead of the IPL 2024 retention deadline, a lot of interesting trades also happened as teams like Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals seemed in action. But the biggest trade of all has been that of Hardik Pandya, who has left his current franchise Gujarat Titans hanging, and has rejoined his previous franchise Mumbai Indians, where he started his career. 

Overall, INR 737.05 has been utilized to retain a total of 173 players. With a budget of 1000 Cr, teams now have 262.95 Cr to spend in the IPL 2024 Auction. #1: Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings have retained 19 players for IPL 2024 Auction. With MS Dhoni confirming his presence for IPL 2024, the fans are already overjoyed. Among the star releases, Ben Stokes has decided to opt out of IPL 2024, while Ambati Rayudu has retired. Overall, CSK have INR 31.4 Cr to purchase a maximum of 5 more players including 3 overseas players.

#2: Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals have retained a total of 16 players including Rishabh Pant, who shall return to lead the team in IPL 2024. DC made some interesting choices by releasing key players like Phil Salt and Rilee Rossouw. Nevertheless, Delhi Capitals now have INR 28.95 Cr in their kitty, and a space to buy 9 more players including 4 overseas players.

#3: Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans have retained 17 players ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction, but the biggest shocker has been that of Hardik Pandya, who has been traded to Mumbai Indians in an all-cash deal. With Hardik gone, GT are currently without a Captain, but have Kane Williamson, Shubman Gill, or Rashid Khan as contenders. The team has INR 38.15 Cr to purchase 8 more players including 2 overseas players.

#4: Kolkata Knight Riders

Coming to KKR, they have retained the least number of players, 13. With Shreyas Iyer returning, their squad seems good from a first-choice playing 11 perspective, but would need good backups in the Auction. KKR have INR 32.7 Cr in their Auction kitty, which they can use to buy a maximum of 12 more players including 4 overseas players.

LSG have six overseas players in their roster, and with only INR 13.15 Cr available in their Auction, their only focus shall be to buy backups for their existing strong squad.

#6: Mumbai Indians 

Mumbai Indians have retained 17 players ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. MI made the maximum noise in the Trading window by acquiring the services of Hardik Pandya, and releasing the likes of Cameron Green and Jofra Archer to facilitate the bid. Overall, MI have a solid first-choice playing 11, and they shall use INR 17.75 Cr to buy backup overseas players.

Punjab Kings have retained 17 players for IPL 2024. Overall, PBKS’ retentions felt on point, and the only star players that PBKS released were Shahrukh Khan, Matthew Short, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Raj Bawa. PBSK have INR 29.1 Cr in their Auction kitty, which they can use to buy 8 more players including 2 overseas players.

Rajasthan Royals have retained a total of 17 players for IPL 2024. The main highlight for RR has been the trade of Avesh Khan for Devdutt Padikkal. The team has 14 Cr in their Auction kitty, and they will mostly use this amount to buy 3 more backup overseas players and Indian All-rounders.

#9: Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained 19 players ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. Even with these many retentions, RCB had the maximum purse of INR 40.75 Cr after the retention deadline. However, with Cameron Green traded in, the purse decreased to INR 23.25 Cr. With a good purse, RCB will mostly look to bolster their bowling attack, which seems to be out of sorts currently.

Overall, SRH have INR 34 Cr in their Auction kitty, and their focus shall mostly be to buy overseas backups.
