The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, the IPL 2024 is currently going in amazing shape with competitive thrillers being seen in all the matches so far. Of all the six matches that have been played so far, not a single match can be termed as one-sided. All the matches have witnessed competitive chase until the 19th or 20th over the match.

Amidst the storm of entertainment, the BCCI has officially announced the remaining fixtures of IPL 2024. To recap, BCCI had only announced the fixtures for the first 21 matches. There were security concerns due to the Lok Sabha elections in India, and there were rumors that the tournament might shift outside India. But Jay Shah quashed all rumors, and has finally announced the fixtures, with all matches being played in India.

Talking about the locations, except for Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and Delhi Capitals, the other seven teams play in their usual Home locations. Rjasthan Royals play two of their home matches in Guwahati, Delhi Capitals play two of their home matches in Vizag, and Punjab Kings play two of their home matches in Dharamsala. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings also play all their home matches at the new Mullanpur stadium near Mohali.

Overall, there are a total of 11 double-headers in the competition. While nine double-headers are on Sunday, there are two double-headers on Saturday – one on March 23 and the other on April 27. In terms of timings, all evening matches shall be there at 7:30 pm IST. Whereas the afternoon matches shall be there at 3:30 pm IST.

IPL 2024 Format:

Talking about the format, it is slightly different than the one we saw in 2021 and before. 10 teams are a part of two groups of 5 teams each. While MI, KKR, RR, DC, and LSG are in Group A, CSK, SRH, RCB, PBKS, and GT are in Group B. Each team in their group will play twice against the other four teams. In addition, the teams play one match each against the opposite group teams, except for MI vs CSK, KKR vs SRH, RR vs RCB, DC vs PBKS, and LSG vs GT, who play twice against each other.

All matches as seen in 2023 as well will continue to be played in Home and Away format. A total of 70 matches and 4 Playoff matches will be played from March 22 to May 26, 2024. While Ahmedabad will host 2 Playoff matches, which are Qualifier 1 and Eliminator, Chennai will host two Playoff matches, which are Qualifier 2 and the grand finale on May 26.

IPL 2024 Current Situation:

Finally, talking about the current situation at the end of week 1 of IPL 2024, CSK, PBKS, KKR, RR, and GT have started their campaign with a win. Whereas RCB, DC, SRH, LSG, and MI registered a loss in their opening game. Coincidently, MI have not won their opening game of the tournament since 2012. Meanwhile, in the sixth game, RCB got off the mark after defeating Punjab Kings in a thrilling match.

The IPL 2024 tournament promises to be a great setup for the Indian team players to prove their worth ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. A lot of places are up for grabs in the Indian team. Hence, many players will be itching to prove their worth through the tournament.
