The hottest and biggest T20 cricket league in the world, the Indian Premier League, ends the year 2025 on a high, with the recently concluded IPL 2026 Mini Auction. In a night that was filled with some record-breaking buys. A total of 77 players were sold among the 10 franchises, with KKR doing the majority of the purchases. In what can also be called a first-of-its-kind, all teams have exactly 25 players post the Auction.

The record-breaking night saw Cameron Green become the most expensive Overseas player in the history of the IPL. He got a bid of 25.2 Cr by KKR, who had also bid for 24.75 Cr for Starc. It was also the night for the uncapped Indian players, as CSK made a complete U-turn from their decade-old strategy. They successfully added two uncapped players for a whopping 14.2 Cr each. The Auction also attracted quality buys like Matheesha Pathirana to KKR, Ravi Bishnoi to RR, and many more.

Aside from these two, CSK added Sarfaraz Khan, Matthew Short, Akeal Hosein, Matt Henry, and Rahul Chahar among quality players. CSK completed their squad of 25 players, and will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. Aside from Ruturaj, CSK will depend on Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Dewald Brevis, MS Dhoni, Noor Ahmad, and Khaleel Ahmed, among quality options.

Overall, DC will depend on the core of Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Mitchell Starc, etc.

However, their most interesting purchase was of Josh Inglis, who was available only for 4 matches, but LSG didn’t hesitate to spend 8.6 Cr on him, as a future potential option. The team looks pretty good, and their Overseas batting department will once again have an important role to play.

While de Kock may overshadow Rickelton in the opening slot, the team will once again depend on their core, comprising Rohit, SKY, Hardik, Bumrah, Tilak, Boult, etc.

It’s a well-balanced squad, but with Sanju Samson not there, it will be interesting to see who leads the side.

While adding squad, the team fortunately got a first-choice playing 11 player, Venkatesh Iyer. It will be an interesting toss-up between Devdutt Padikkal and Venkatesh Iyer, but aside from Iyer, RCB were able to buy Jacob Duffy and Jordan Cox among quality Overseas players.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad team initially looked like they were just interested in inflating the price of players. They bought almost none of those available quality options during the initial bids. So, in the end, when other teams had no money, they bought many uncapped players at base price, and the only player that they bought expensive – Liam Livingstone, was more of a forced buy as they were out of options. The bowling lineup still looks like a missing puzzle for the team, with dependency on Pat Cummins, Harshal Patel, and Jaydev Unadkat.
