IPL 2026 All Teams 1 Confirmed Name from Released Players List
Glenn Maxwell, the biggest name in our one confirmed name from the released players list for all 10 teams for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
The Indian Premier League as a platform saw the successful completion of the 18th edition of the tournament, IPL 2025. The tournament saw the final being played between two teams that had never won an IPL Trophy before. But in an intense finale, Royal Challengers Bengaluru came out victorious for the first time as they defeated the spirited Punjab Kings. The victory was a sweet affair for the RCB fans as they went from ‘Ee Salla Cup Namde’ to ‘Ee Salla Cup Namdu’.
With IPL 2025 done and dusted, the next important task at hand for each team is to finalize the retentions for the upcoming edition. Unlike the previous edition, which had a Mega Auction, teams will be given the freedom to retain as many players as they want; of course, they will still have to stick to a maximum of 8 Overseas, and a maximum of 25 players in the squad. Since teams add replacements, there is a possibility they may exceed this limit, hence it is an important aspect to look into.
While the official date to announce replacements shall be around November as always, the planning may have already begun for all 10 Teams. Moreover, there is no team that doesn’t have laggards on their side. These players either don’t justify their high purchase price, or just perform poorly during the entire tournament. Hence, it is usually easier to identify such players from the squad pool. So, in this article, we take a look at one such player who will be a confirmed part of the released players list for each team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
IPL 2026 Released Players One Confirmed Name for Each Team
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – Ravichandran Ashwin
Starting with Chennai Super Kings, the team finished at the bottom of the points table, and that shows teams has many under performers in their side. But one player that team spent a huge amount, but just wasn’t able to justify that price tag is Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin was purchased for a whopping 9.75 Cr by CSK, but the off-spinner could only manage 7 wickets from 9 innings, and was often dropped from the team. Since Ashwin isn’t adding anything valuable to this side, it will be prudent of CSK to release Ashwin, and instead focus on adding good finishers in the squad.
Lucknow Super Giants – Mayank Yadav
Coming to Lucknow Super Giants, there is this one player who gets a salary in fortune, but is often injured. Yes, we are talking about Mayank Yadav, who had hardly played 6-7 matches in the last two years, and has mostly been affected by injury. Since LSG has many bowlers in the team, it will be good to release Mayank, and instead use that amount to buy quality Indian batters or all-rounders.
Rajasthan Royals – Shimron Hetmyer
The Rajasthan Royals team had a below-par outing in IPL 2025, and the prime reason for that was the inconsistent performance of some of their dependable players. One player that RR may contemplate releasing is Shimron Hetmyer. This is purely for the value he is bringing to the table. Someone who is getting 11 Cr should be able to provide better value to the team. If not, he is simply disturbing the balance of the team, and Hetmyer is just doing that.
Gujarat Titans – Karim Janat
Gujarat Titans were one of the few teams to have a consistent playing 11 throughout the tournament. There were hardly any laggards in the squad, but one player that represents absolutely nil value to the team is Karim Janat. Hiring Janat itself was a shocker, and now that we have seen he has absolutely nothing good to offer, it will be prudent of Gujarat Titans to release Karim Janat for IPL 2026.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – Mohammed Shami
The Sunrisers Hyderabad team jumped from being a top-performing team in IPL 2024 to a below-par performing team in IPL 2025. While batting was the main reason why SRH had a downfall, there were also high expectations in the bowling department, especially from Mohammed Shami. Shami has experienced a major downfall in the bowling quality since his return from injury. There is an evident lack of pace, and that zip is missing. With a bad outing in IPL 2025 too, expect SRH to show closed doors to Shami.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru – Liam Livingstone
The champions of IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru saw valuable contributions from almost 8-9 players in the team. But if there is one player who just doesn’t look to belong to IPL, forget RCB, it is Liam Livingstone. It feels as if Liam Livingstone’s time is up, or he is just not interested in playing IPL. Whatever the case, Liam doesn’t belong to RCB, and should be released, purely basis his mindset
Delhi Capitals – T Natarajan
For Delhi Capitals, if there is one player that was not only underutilized, but also carried a high price tag, it is T Natarajan. It was absolutely shocking to see Delhi Capitals coming spending a fortune to acquire Natarajan’s services, and then not finding him valuable enough to feature in the playing 11 even after multiple failures by the other pacers. It clearly shows Natarajan doesn’t have a place in the team, and if that’s the case, Delhi Capitals should release him, and instead buy some other good player in the Auction for that high price.
Mumbai Indians – Mujeeb ur Rahman
The Mumbai Indians team had a good IPL 2025 as they finished in the third position after a strong fight against the Punjab Kings. The team doesn’t have laggards as such, but may look to release Mujeeb ur Rahman, who doesn’t add much value to the team. Mujeeb hardly played for MI, and it would be good for MI to find another solid Overseas batter in the Auction like Jonny Bairstow.
Punjab Kings – Glenn Maxwell
When we talk about Punjab Kings, the team had a fantastic year to be able to finish as Runner-up. But irrespective of their Standings, one played who is for sure going to face the axe, it is Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell had a mediocre IPL 2025, and was finally ruled out due to injury. PBKS will be hoping Maxwell gets injured forever, so that they won’t have to release him. But honestly, PBKS should not even wait for the official announcement by BCCI, and should share the release letter with Maxwell already.
Kolkata Knight Riders – Venkatesh Iyer
Kolkata Knight Riders made many tactical blunders in not only their playing 11, but also their squad which they built in the Auction. One such player who was paid the highest, but looks a complete misfit in the squad, is Venkatesh Iyer. Seriously need to question the think tank of KKR who spent 24 Cr on a player who can’t guarantee you 500 runs, doesn’t bowl, and is not even your Captain. So, it will be prudent of KKR to release Venkatesh Iyer, and instead look for a quality Overseas bowler in the Auction.
So, that’s about the best released players one name for all 10 teams for IPL 2026.
