Less than a month to go for the biggest spectacle in International Cricket, the T20 World Cup 2026. A total of 20 teams will feature in this blockbuster contest, and that makes it a festival kind of mode in the cricketing world. It’s absolutely delightful to see Cricket growing at such a rapid pace, and accommodating 20 teams for the T20 World Cup 2026, which, when it started in 2007, had only 12 teams. Also, it is heartening to see names like Italy, USA, UAE, Oman, etc., who are slowly making inroads in the world of Cricket. 

The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 shall be jointly played in India and Sri Lanka, and will kick-start from February 07, with the final to be played on March 08. Ideally, teams announce their official 15-member squad almost a month before the actual kick-off of the tournament. As of Jan 14 2026, only 14 teams have officially announced their squad. Among the top 10 teams as per ICC rankings, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies are yet to announce their squad. 

Team India are the defending champion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, having won their second title in 2024, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Barring Pakistan’s clash, India shall play all their matches in India. In terms of the squad, ideally, the pending teams should announce the final squad a week before the tournament kicks off.
