T20 World Cup 2024: Rating Each Team Best Batting Lineup

Team India, the leader of the pack as we look at the ranking of the best batting lineup of all teams for the T20 World Cup 2024.

It’s been more than a week since the start of the T20 World Cup 2024, and Pakistan, almost every team has played their first match. Except for England, who were unfortunate to miss out on 2 points due to rain, the other results have gone as expected so far. Even the Indian team started on a positive note with a superb 8-wicket win over Ireland at New York.  

Overall, It has been quite a dramatic shift in the matches that we have witnessed so far as compared to the ones that we saw in the Indian Premier League. The latest IPL 2024 matches were mostly a high-scoring affair given the pitches, but the T20 World Cup 2024 has almost been the opposite with matches being a low-scoring affair so far.

Given the challenges the pitches have delivered so far, the role of batters, and especially consistent batters becomes extremely useful. Now we already know the first-choice playing 11 of almost all the teams. So, how about we look at the ranking of the best batting line-up for each team for the T20 World Cup 2024?

To simplify the analysis, we will look at the cumulative rating of the top 7 batters of each team. These batters are rated basis the benchmark players in each category like Openers, Middle-order, and Finishers. Also, to make sure you don’t get exhausted reading the article, we shall look at only the ranking of the top 10 Teams

T20 World Cup 2024 – Rating the Best Batting Lineup for Each Team

#10. Bangladesh – 6.96

3. Najmul Hossain Shanto
4. Towhid Hridoy
5. Shakib Al Hasan
6. Mahmudullah
7. Jaker Ali

Starting with number 10, we have the Bangladesh team with a batting lineup rating of 6.96. On paper, Bangladesh have a decent batting lineup with the focus on batters like Litton Das, Najmul Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mahmudullah. However, as compared to the competition, Bangladesh’s batting still has a long way to go.  

#9. Afghanistan – 7.14

At number 9, we have the Afghanistan team with a batting lineup rating of 7.14. Afghanistan does have better batters than Bangladesh, and they also have great batting depth with Rashid Khan batting at 8. Overall, Afghanistan shall be dependent on Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, and Mohammad Naib a lot during the World Cup. 

#8. Sri Lanka – 7.5

Moving to number 8, we have the Sri Lankan Team with a batting lineup rating of 7.5. Sri Lanka is one that team other than Australia that had a lot of batting all-rounders in their side. In Sri Lanka’s top 7, there are technically four all-rounders in the form of Kamindu Mendis, Charith Asalanka, Angelo Mathews, and Dasun Shanaka. However, from a quality point of view, there is still a huge gap. 

#7. Pakistan – 8.0

3. Babar Azam
4. Fakhar Zaman
5. Azam Khan
6. Iftikhar Ahmed
7. Imad Wasim

Number 7 sees Pakistan’s team with a batting lineup rating of 8.0. Pakistan have two solid batters in the form of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, but other than these two, there’s only Fakhar Zaman as a reliable batter. But the other four batters are more or less average when it comes to the overall quality. Once again, it will be Babar and Rizwan who will have to steer the sheep for Pakistan.

#6. West Indies – 8.18

At number 6, we have the West Indies team with a batting lineup rating of 8.18. West Indies team is known for aggressive batting, and barring Roston Chase, almost all West Indies play an aggressive brand of cricket. Overall, Nicholas Pooran, Johnson Charles, Rovman Powell, and Andre Russell will play a vital role for West Indies in the batting department.

#5. New Zealand – 8.21

At number 5, we have a surprise with New Zealand taking this spot with a batting lineup rating of 8.21. If you look at the conditions, New Zealand have a top-notch batting lineup. With batters like Conway, Williamson, Mitchell, and Phillips, the team has some really consistent batters who can adapt their batting to any kind of wickets.

#4. South Africa – 8.22

At number 4, we have the South African team with a batting lineup rating of 8.22. South Africa have a solid batting line-up with the top 6 having great experience, and a solid record in T20Is. It’s difficult to pick a match-winner from this lineup, but Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, and Heinrich Klaasen will play a key role for South Africa this World Cup.

#3. Australia – 8.6

5. Marcus Stoinis
6. Tim David
7. Matthew Wade

Moving to the top 3, we have the Australian team with a batting lineup rating of 8.6. Australia have one of the most dangerous batting line-ups with solid batting to the number 7 position. The best thing about Australia’s batting is that all batters are capable of winning a match on their own. So, be it Warner and Head at the top, Marsh, Maxwell, or Stoinis in the middle-order, or David and Wade as finishers, all are potent match winners.

Talking about number 2, we have the England team with a batting lineup rating of 8.68. Much like Australia, England also have solid top 7, albeit a bit better. With Salt, Buttler, and Jacks at the top, England have a solid top-order. But even the following ones, Bairstow, Livingstone, and Brook are capable enough to give England a solid batting foundation.

Talking about the numero uno, it is the Indian team with a batting lineup rating of 8.7. Only marginally, but India beat to have the Strongest batting lineup on paper for the T20 World Cup 2024. It’s a unique setup for the Indian team with Kohli and Rohit at the top and a right mix of lefties and righties. If everyone replicates their IPL form, there is no stopping the Indian team.
