IPL 2025 Ranking All 10 Teams Basis Best All-rounders
Kolkata Knight Riders, the standout in our best all-rounders list ranking for all 10 teams for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Ever since the impact player rule came into existence, the role of all-rounders has been minimised to an extent. Teams are focused on utilising specialists in their bowling, and as a result, all-rounders’ key role is to contribute more in the bowling department, and any contribution in the batting is more of a bonus. Whereas for the batting all-rounders, they are now considered as pure batters, and may only bowl a few times in the entire tournament.
The role of all-rounders has been minimised to an extent in most of the teams, as seen from the initial 3-4 weeks of IPL 2025. Most teams are dependent on their specialist batters and bowlers, and even if we have batters who can bowl, they don’t get to bowl that often as teams trust a specialist bowler more than a part-time bowler, or a batting all-rounder. Having said that, there are a few teams that use some players effectively in both departments.
So, in this article, we take a look at all-rounders of each team that have currently been favoured as the first-choice players in their respective team’s playing 11. We shall look at the ranking of the teams with regard to all-rounders that are currently playing for their team, and secondly, how they are getting utilised in both areas. So, let’s analyse the current best all-rounders of each team, and find out their ranking for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
IPL 2025 All 10 Teams Best All-rounders Ranking
#10: Lucknow Super Giants
Abdul Samad
At number 10, we have the LSG team, and clearly, there is no good all-rounder in the team. Mitchel Marsh was supposed to be their best all-rounder, but since he cannot bowl, he can’t be included as an All-rounder. This leaves us with only Abdul Samad as the all-rounder choice, and clearly, Abdul Samad can’t compete with the other teams in terms of all-rounder capabilities. The fact that he has not bowled so far proves that. LSG are the biggest beneficiaries of the impact player rule, and they shall continue to do so with the lack of a good all-rounder.
#9: Rajasthan Royals
Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag & Wanindu Hasaranga (o)
For number 9, we have the RR team, and the team is riding the same boat as LSG, but a touch better than them. Be it Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag, or Wanindu Hasaranga, all three are more of makeshift all-rounders, and hardly contribute in their secondary department. As a result, RR are also dependent on the impact player rule, and they rely on their primary bowlers to deliver in the bowling department.
#8: Gujarat Titans
Arshad Khan, Rahul Tewatia & Washington Sundar
For number 8, we have the Gujarat Titans team, and the team has three all-rounders on paper, but the management has hardly used them in their secondary department. While Arshad gets good overs for his team, he bats too low down the order for GT. Similarly, Rahul Tewatia has hardly bowled, and Washington Sundar is used as a middle-order batter more than a bowler, although his bowling skills are really good.
#7: Sunrisers Hyderabad
Abhishek Sharma & Nitish Reddy
Talking about Sunrisers Hyderabad, they have two good all-rounders in their side, Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Reddy. However, SRH mostly use them only as pure batters with hardly any contribution in the bowling department. Both have the potential to give 2-3 good overs for their team, but because of the impact player rule, SRH hardly use them in the bowling department.
#6: Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Krunal Pandya & Liam Livingstone (o)
For number 6, we have the RCB team, and they have two good all-rounders, Krunal Pandya and Liam Livingstone. While both are getting utilized as a batter and a bowler, their contribution in the secondary area hasn’t been encouraging. While Krunal has not been able to contribute well as a batter, Liam has neither contributed as a batter nor as a bowler so far. Hence, the potential isn’t getting utilized in the RCB team for these two players.
#5: Delhi Capitals
Axar Patel & Vipraj Nigam
Number 5 sees the Delhi Capitals team, and they have two good all-rounders, Axar Patel and Vipraj Nigam, and both are contributing well in the batting as well as the bowling department. Uncapped Vipraj Singh has been like a breath of fresh air for the Delhi Capitals team, and not only as a bowler, his contribution as a lower-order batter has also been excellent for the DC team.
#4: Mumbai Indians
Hardik Pandya (c), Mitchell Santner (o) & Will Jacks
For number 4, we have the Mumbai Indians team, and they have three all-rounders in their side for IPL 2025. Both Hardik and Santner have been contributing well in both departments, and have done really well in their respective roles. Meanwhile, Will Jacks hasn’t had the best of IPL so far, but has been utilised as a bowler as well as a batter in the MI team currently.
#3: Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Jamie Overton (o), Rachin Ravindra (o), Ravindra Jadeja & Shivam Dube
Moving to the top 3, we have Chennai Super Kings, and they have four good all-rounders in their side for IPL 2025. Ravindra Jadeja is the leading all-rounder for the CSK team, and he contributes well in both the departments for his team. However, the same can’t be said about Rachin and Dube, who can contribute well in the bowling department, but are not being given the opportunity. Overton, meanwhile, will need some more game time before he starts delivering for his team.
#2: Punjab Kings
Glenn Maxwell (o), Marco Jansen (o), Marcus Stoinis (o) & Shashank Singh
For number 2, we have the Punjab Kings with three quality all-rounders present in their side. Even as Maxwell and Stoinis are batting all-rounders, PBKS are utilizing their all-rounders as bowlers as well. Every match, we see Maxwell and Stoinis giving those 2-3 crucial overs for their team. Jansen, on the other hand, contributed whenever he came out to bat. Whereas Shashank has also started to bowl, which shows that PBKS is truly a team that is utilizing its all-rounders in a good way.
#1: Kolkata Knight Riders
Andre Russell (o), Moeen Ali (o), Ramandeep Singh, Sunil Narine (o) & Venkatesh Iyer
Finally, the best of the lot, we have the KKR team with five quality all-rounders present in their playing 11. Of the five all-rounders, KKR actively utilizes three all-rounders, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Moeen Ali. All three are quality all-rounders, and they contribute well to their team. Similarly, Venkatesh and Ramandeep can be effective bowlers, if given an opportunity.
