India vs Ban 2019: First T20 Preview and Expected Playing 11

India vs Ban: Rohit Sharma to lead Team India as we look at the stats preview and the expected playing 11 for the first T20 International between India and Bangladesh.

After drawing the T20I series 1-1 against South Africa, India would be hosting Bangladesh for a 3-match T20I series starting November 3 in Delhi. With Virat Kohli being rested, Rohit Sharma would lead the Indian team that is also devoid of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. The Team also has a couple of new names in the form of Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh would be without their Captain, Shakib Al Hasan. The star all-rounder has been banned by ICC for 2 years for having failed to report fixing approaches to ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU). In his absence, Mahmudullah would captain the side. So, considering the Team combinations and Delhi’s pitch offering, what would the playing 11 look like for the first T20? Let’s have a look.

MATCH DETAILS:

Occasion: First T20I, India vs Bangladesh

Location: Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

Date & Time: November 3, 2019, 7 pm

EXPECTED PLAYING XI FOR INDIA:

Openers: Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan did well in the recently concluded South Africa series with scores reading 40 and 36 respectively. This means, he is certain to open along with Rohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma would want to get back to form in the shortest format of the game. The talismanic opener hasn’t had a great outing in T20Is since World Cup 2019.

Middle-Order: KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant

The absence of Virat Kohli gives an opportunity to KL Rahul, who has been in compelling form in the shortest format of the game in whatever opportunity he had got. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant would be expected to fill the rest of the middle-order slots. The batting position of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer is still a debatable topic with the former being preferred for the number 4 spot. However, with Rohit Sharma as captain, you can expect Shreyas Iyer to play at 4, and Rishabh Pant at 5.

All-rounders: Shivam Dube and Krunal Pandya, and Washington Sundar.

India made a surprising choice for the T20 series by leaving out Ravindra Jadeja. So, in his absence, Krunal Pandya becomes a sure shot selection as an all-rounder.  Meanwhile, as Hardik Pandya hasn’t recovered from the injury, it is highly likely that Shivam Dube would get to debut as the Team’s batting all-rounder.

The other debatable option would be between Washington Sundar and Rahul Chahar. While the latter is a brilliant Leggie, the presence of Yuzvendra Chahal might prompt Rohit to opt for Sundar, who is a brilliant powerplay bowler, and adds batting dimension too.

Bowlers: Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Khaleel Ahmed

Coming to the bowlers, India’s premier spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal is set to return in the playing 11 after being left out of the squad against South Africa. Also, with Navdeep Saini and Jasprit Bumrah recovering from injuries, Deepak Chahar would lead the pace attack with Khaleel Ahmed most likely to hold on to the second Pace option ahead of Shardul Thakur.

India vs Ban first T20 expected Playing 11:
