Final Squad Players List for All 16 Teams for T20 World Cup 2022

Team India and all the other participating teams have announced their official squad and players list for the T20 World Cup 2022.  

The biggest T20 tournament of the year, the T20 World Cup 2022 is just a month away, and the excitement is sky high. This would be the eighth World Cup since its inception in 2007. India had won the inaugural T20 World Cup, and since then Pakistan, England, Australia, and Sri Lanka won it once. Whereas West Indies won the tournament twice. 

The ICC had set September 16 as the official deadline to submit the squad. Abiding by the deadline, most of the teams have already submitted the official squad for T20 World Cup 2022. So, in this article, we take a look at the official squad players list for all 16 teams for T20 World Cup 2022. 

All Teams Squad for T20 World Cup 2022: 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Afghanistan

Batters: Darwish Rasooli, Hazratullah Zazai, Ibrahim Zadran & Najibullah Zadran & Usman Ghani 

Wks: Rahmanullah Gurbaz 

All-rounders: Azmatullah Omarzai & Mohammad Nabi

Bowlers: Farid Ahmad Malik, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mohammad Salim Safi, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Naveen ul Haq, Qais Ahmad & Rashid Khan

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Jonathan Trott // Captain: Mohammad Nabi

Reserves: Afsar Zazai, Gulbadin Naib, Rahmat Shah & Sharafuddin Ashraf, 

Afghanistan cricket team shall be led by their star all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. This would be Afghanistan’s sixth appearance in T20 World Cup having missed the 2007 campaign. Overall, Afghanistan have never progressed beyond the group stage. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Australia

Batters: Aaron Finch, David Warner & Steven Smith

Wks: Josh Inglis & Matthew Wade

All-rounders: Ashton Agar, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh & Tim David 

Bowlers: Adam Zampa Josh Hazlewood, Kane Richardson, Mitchell Starc & Pat Cummins 

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Andrew McDonald // Captain: Aaron Finch

The defending champions. Australia shall be led by Aaron Finch, who also led Australia to a victorious T20 World Cup 2021 campaign. Overall, Australia have won the tournament once, finished as runners-up once, ended in Semis twice, and thrice were knocked out in the Group stages. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Bangladesh 

Batters: Najmul Hossain, Sabbir Rahman & Yasir Ali

Wks: Litton Das & Nurul Hasan

All-rounders: Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mossadek Hossain & Shakib Al Hasan

Bowlers: Ebadot Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Mustafizur Rahman, Nasum Ahmed & Taskin Ahmed

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Sridharan Sriram // Captain: Shakib Al Hasan

Reserves: Rishad Hossain, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam & Soumya Sarkar

The Bangladesh team shall be led by All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. In their seven T20 World Cup appearances, the Bangladesh cricket team have never progressed beyond round robin stage.

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Pakistan

Batters: Asif Ali, Babar Azam, Haider Ali, Khushdil Shah & Shan Masood 

Wks: Mohammad Rizwan

All-rounders: Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim & Shadab Khan

Bowlers: Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani & Usman Qadir

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Saqlain Mushtaq // Captain: Babar Azam

Reserves: Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Haris & Shahnawaz Dahani

The Pakistan team shall be led by their best batter, Babar Azam. Pakistan have been one of the most successful teams in the T20 World Cup. Except for 2014 and 2016, where they couldn’t progress beyond the Group stage, they have finished in the top 4 on five occasions with 2009 being their world cup winning year. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for South Africa

Batters: Aiden Markram, David Miller, Reeza Hendricks, Rillee Rossouw, Temba Bavuma & Tristan Stubbs 

Wks: Heinrich Klaasen & Quinton de Kock 

All-rounders: Dwaine Pretorius 

Bowlers: Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi & Wayne Parnell 

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Mark Boucher // Captain: Temba Bavuma

Reserves: Andile Phehlukwayo, Bjorn Fortuin & Marco Jansen 

The South Africa team shall be led by Temba Bavuma, who also happens to be their ODI squad captain. South Africa have been a touch unfortunate in T20 World Cups having failed to win the tournament even once. They have played Semis twice, and couldn’t progress beyond the group stage on five occasions. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for West Indies

Batters: Brandon King, Evin Lewis & Shimron Hetmyer 

Wks: Nicholas Pooran & Johnson Charles

All-rounders: Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, Odean Smith, Raymon Reifer & Rovman Powell

Bowlers: Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Obed Mccoy, Sheldon Cottrell & Yannic Cariah  

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Phil Simmons // Captain: Nicholas Pooran

Two-time champions, West Indies shall be led by dynamic wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran. It’s quite unfortunate that they will have to play the qualifiers before they progress further to play the official tournament. Nevertheless, apart from winning the trophy twice, West Indies have finished in the semis twice and thrice they couldn’t progress beyond the group stage. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for England

Batters: Alex Hales, Dawid Malan & Harry Brook 

Wks: Jos Buttler & Phil Salt

All-rounders: Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali & Sam Curran 

Bowlers: Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, Mark Wood & Reece Topley

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Matthew Mott // Captain: Jos Buttler

Reserves: Liam Dawson, Richard Gleeson & Tymal Mills

The 2010 T20 World Cup champions, England shall have Jos Buttler as their new captain for T20 World Cup 2022. Overall, the England team have been victorious once. They finished once as Runners-up and in the Semis. Whereas four times, they have been knocked out in the Group stages itself. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Team India

Batters: KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav & Virat Kohli

Wks: Dinesh Karthik & Rishabh Pant

All-rounders: Axar Patel, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya & Ravichandran Ashwin  

Bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Jasprit Bumrah & Yuzvendra Chahal

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Rahul Dravid // Captain: Rohit Sharma 

Reserves: Deepak Chahar, Mohammad Shami, Ravi Bishnoi & Shreyas Iyer 

Team India shall be led by Rohit Sharma, who will be making his debut appearance as the T20 World Cup 2022 captain for Team India. In the seven T20 appearances so far, India have won the tournament once, finished as runners-up once, played semis once, and in the remaining four appearances were eliminated from the Group stage. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Namibia

Batters: Lohan Louwrens & Stephan Baard

Wks: Nicol Loftie Eaton & Zane Green

All-rounders: David Wiese, Divan la Cock, Gerhard Erasmus, Helao Ya France, Jan Frylinck, JJ Smit & Karl Birkenstock

Bowlers: Bernard Scholtz, Ben Shikongo, Michael van Lingen, Ruben Trumpelmann & Tangeni Lungameni

Team Strength: 16 // Coach: Johan Rudolph // Captain: Gerhard Erasmus

The Namibia team shall be led by Gerhard Erasmus. Namibia shall be playing the T20 World Cup qualifiers, and if they are able to qualify, this would be their second T20 World Cup appearance after playing the first in 2021. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for the Netherlands

Batters: Max O’Dowd, Stephan Myburgh, Tom Cooper & Vikram Singh

Wks: Scott Edwards

All-rounders: Bas de Leede, Colin Ackermann, Roelof van der Merwe, Teja Nidamanuru & Tim Pringle 

Bowlers: Brandon Glover, Fred Klaassen, Logan van Beek, Paul van Meekeren, Shariz Ahmad & Timm van der Gugten

Team Strength: 16 // Coach: Ryan Campbell // Captain: Scott Edwards

Scott Edwards shall lead the Netherlands team. Similar to Namibia, the Netherlands team shall play the qualifiers, and if they are able to qualify, this would be their fifth T20 World Cup appearance.

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Zimbabwe

Batters: Craig Ervine & Milton Shumba 

Wks: Clive Madande & Regis Chakabva 

All-rounders: Bradley Evans, Ryan Burl, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Tony Munyonga & Wesley Madhevere 

Bowlers: Blessing Muzarabani, Luke Jongwe, Richard Ngarava, Tendai Chatara & Wellington Masakadza, 

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: David Houghton // Captain: Craig Ervine

Reserves: Innocent Kaia, Kevin Kasuza, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Tanaka Chivanga & Victor Nyauchi

The Zimbabwe team shall be led by Craig Ervine. The Zimbabwe team shall play the qualifiers, and if they are able to qualify, this would be their sixth T20 World Cup appearance. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Sri Lanka

Batters: Charith Asalanka, Danushka Gunathilaka, Dhananjaya de Silva & Pathum Nissanka 

Wks: Bhanuka Rajapaksa & Kusal Mendis

All-rounders: Dasun Shanaka & Wanindu Hasaranga 

Bowlers: Chamika Karunaratne, Dushmantha Chameera, Jeffrey Vandersay, Lahiru Kumara, Maheesh Theekshana, Dilshan Madushanka & Pramod Madushan

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Chris Silverwood // Captain: Dasun Shanaka

Reserves: Ashen Bandara, Binura Fernando, Dinesh Chandimal, Nuwanidu Fernando & Praveen Jayawickrema

The Asia Cup 2022 winners shall be led by their calm and cool captain, Dasun Shanaka. The Sri Lankan team have been fairly successful in the T20 World Cups. They have won the tournament once in 2014, finished as runners-up once, ended in Semis twice, and on three occasions couldn’t progress beyond the group stage. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for UAE 

Batters: Alishan Sharafu, Basil Hameed, Chirag Suri, C P Rizwan & Muhammad Waseem

WKs: Vriitya Aravind

All-rounders: Aayan Khan & Kashif Daud

Bowlers: Ahmed Raza, Aryan Lakra, Junaid Siddique, Karthik Meiyappan, Sabir Ali, Zahoor Khan & Zawar Farid

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Robin Singh // Captain: CP Rizwan

Reserves: Adithya Shetty, Fahad Nawaz, Sanchit Sharma, Sultan Ahmed & Vishnu Sukumaran

The UAE team shall be led by CP Rizwan. The UAE team has played in the T20 World Cup once in 2014. If they are able to qualify from the qualifiers, this would be their second T20 World Cup appearance. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for New Zealand

Batters: Glenn Phillips, Kane Williamson, Mark Chapman & Martin Guptill 

WKs: Devon Conway & Finn Allen

All-rounders: Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Michael Bracewell & Mitchell Santner 

Bowlers: Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee & Trent Boult 

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Gary Stead // Captain: Kane Williamson 

The New Zealand team shall be led by Ice Captain, Kane Williamson. New Zealand haven’t tasted Success in T20 World Cup as yet. In seven World Cup appearances, New Zealand have ended as Runners-up once, Played Semis twice, and on four occasions, they couldn’t progress beyond the group stage. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Ireland

Batters: Andrew Balbirnie & Harry Tector 

WKs: Lorcan Tucker & Stephen Doheny 

All-rounders: Curtis Campher, Fionn Hand, Gareth Delany, Paul Stirling & Simi Singh

Bowlers: Barry McCarthy, Conor Olphert, Craig Young, George Dockrell, Joshua Little & Mark Adair

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Heinrich Malan // Captain: Andrew Balbirnie

The Ireland team shall be led by Andrew Balbirnie. Except for 2007, Ireland have played each T20 World Cup until 2021. However, they haven’t progressed beyond the Group stages in any World Cup. If they are able to do well in the qualifiers, this would be their 7th T20 World Cup appearance. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Official Squad for Scotland

Batters: Calum MacLeod, George Munsey & Michael Jones 

WKs: Craig Wallace & Matthew Cross 

All-rounders: Brandon McMullen, Michael Leask & Richard Berrington

Bowlers: Bradley Wheal, Chris Greaves, Chris Sole, Hamza Tahir, Mark Watt, Josh Davey & Safyaan Sharif 

Team Strength: 15 // Coach: Shane Burger // Captain: Richard Berrington

The Scotland team shall be led by their star all-rounder Richard Berrington. Scotland team have played the T20 World Cup four times, and have never progressed beyond the Group stages. They would be playing the qualifiers for T20 World Cup 2022 before progressing into the Super 12 stage. 

So, that’s about the official final squad players list for all 16 teams for T20 World Cup 2022. The tournament begins with the qualifiers on October 16 and the Super 12 stage on October 22.
