India vs Zimbabwe 2022: Official ODI Series Squad List for India

New players make a comeback as we look at the official squad list for Team India for the 2022 ODI series vs Zimbabwe. 

Update: KL Rahul has been added to the squad after he was cleared for fitness. He shall now be leading the side instead of Shikhar Dhawan. In addition, VVS Laxman shall be the official coach for the ODI series instead of Rahul Dravid, who shall be busy for the Asia Cup 2022. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Saturday officially announced the 15-members squad for the ODI series vs Zimbabwe. With the series being played against Zimbabwe, none of the senior members, who are the first-choice players for the T20 squad has been selected.

Shikhar Dhawan, who was also the leader of the pack for the ODI series vs West Indies shall lead the ODI series squad vs Zimbabwe. He recently became the first Indian captain to whitewash West Indies in an ODI series in West Indies. He would like to repeat the same feat against Zimbabwe too. 

Some of the senior players, who were a part of the West Indies ODI series have been rested. The likes of which include Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Arshdeep Singh & Yuzvendra Chahal. It is understood that these players will be a part of the Asia Cup 2022 squad, hence shall need rest.

Meanwhile, new players have been added to the squad in place of the above players. The likes of which include Rahul Tripathi, Washington Sundar,  Kuldeep Yadav & Deepak Chahar. While Rahul Tripathi has received a maiden call, Washington Sundar and Deepak Chahar are making a comeback post injury. Whereas Kuldeep Yadav has been added as a replacement for Yuzvendra Chahal.

Also, the rest of the players remain the same. We have Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson as wicket-keepers. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shubman Gill as openers. Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel as all-rounders. Avesh Khan, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Shardul Thakur as pacers.
