India vs West Indies 2023: Best Predicted T20 Squad Players List

A total of 17 names in contention as we look at the confirmed best T20 squad and players list for India vs West Indies 2023.

Official Squad for T20I Series Announced:

Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (vc), Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan (wk), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya (c), Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Ravi Bishnoi, Umran Malik & Yuzvendra Chahal

Ever since India’s debacle in the T20 World Cup 2022, India have been following a completely new template when it comes to playing T20 cricket. The team isn’t considering the older folks like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and others in lieu of grooming youngsters, and also giving them enough rest for ODI World Cup 2023.

The Indian Premier League, which acts as a prelude to India’s T20I squad selection just concluded its 16 edition in the form of IPL 2023. Many potential uncapped youngsters played some extraordinary cricket during those 2 months. This gives us a great opportunity to analyze the potential candidates who can be a part of the T20 squad for the upcoming West Indie tour.

The West Indies tour will see a total of 5 T20I matches being played after the Test and ODI series. The BCCI has already announced the squad for the ODI and Test series vs West Indies. However, they are yet to announce the T20I squad. So, how about we take a look at the potential names who would form a part of India’s T20 squad for the T20I series vs West Indies?

Batters

Rahul Tripathi, Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav & Yashasvi Jaiswal

Taking the last New Zealand T20I series as a base, we would analyze the batters who could be in contention for the West Indies T20I series. Of the batters that played in the New Zealand T20I series, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Suryakumar Yadav should be the first-choice batters in the team.

Other than these three, India had selected Prithvi Shaw and Rahul Tripathi. Both Tripathi and Shaw have had a below-par IPL 2023. While India may look at Yashasvi Jaiswal as a replacement for Prithvi Shaw, India may give another opportunity to Rahul Tripathi, who did impress in the final T20I vs New Zealand.

Alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has had a stunning IPL 2023 being the all-time leading uncapped run-getter, India will also give an opportunity to Rinku Singh, who was equally impressive as a finisher. Both these youngsters were excellent in IPL 2023, and may be given the opportunity in the T20I team.

WKs

Ishan Kishan & Jitesh Sharma

Coming to wicket-keepers, India had selected Ishan Kishan and Jitesh Sharma as the first-choice keepers in the squad. Both should continue to be the primary keepers in the squad. While Ishan Kishan will play the role of WK Opener, Jitesh Sharma will play the role of WK Finisher in the squad.

All-rounders

Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya & Ravindra Jadeja

Coming to all-rounders, India had three names last time in the form of Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya, and Washington Sundar. Of the three, Deepak Hooda has been lacklustre in the T20I series vs New Zealand as well as IPL 2023. Whereas Washington Sundar is currently nursing an injury, and isn’t fully fit.

It looks unlikely India will continue with both of these players. So, instead, India will bring back fit Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel as their replacements. Both Axar and Jadeja are a part of India’s ODI squad, and it is logical for them to play in the T20 series. However, if Washington Sundar is declared fit, he should come in for Ravindra Jadeja, who could be rested for the T20 series on account of workload,

Bowlers

Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, Umran Malik & Yuzvendra Chahal

Coming to the bowling department, we shouldn’t expect any changes here. Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, and Umran Malik were the leading pacers of the squad. These four should continue to lead the pace department as there weren’t any new pacers in IPL 2023 who looked impressive to get a T20I call.

Other than the pacers, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal should continue to be the leading spinners in the squad. Both are in good form, and did more than decent job in the New Zealand T20I series. India may also contemplate playing Ravi Bishnoi, but that shouldn’t be at the expense of these two spinners.

India vs West Indies 2023 Best Predicted T20 Squad for Team India:

BattersRahul Tripathi, Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav & Yashasvi Jaiswal

WKs: Ishan Kishan & Jitesh Sharma

All-roundersAxar Patel, Hardik Pandya & Ravindra Jadeja

Bowlers: Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, Umran Malik & Yuzvendra Chahal

so, that’s about the best predicted squad for Team India for the 2023 T20 series vs West Indies. Overall, given there are 5 T20Is in place, India should select 17 members unlike the 16 that they do every time. Of the players in contention, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, and Jitesh Sharma will be the new names to watch out for. Meanwhile, here’s the official India vs West Indies 2023 T20 series schedule.
