IPL 2022 Latest: Points Table Standings and Key Stats after KKR vs SRH

Punjab Kings jump to 6th position after their win over RCB as we look at the latest points table standings and key stats for IPL 2022.

Update: This article has been updated after KKR vs SRH match 61.

If ‘Keeping you on the edge of the seat’ phrase had a synonym, IPL 2022 would exactly be called that. We have completed 61 matches in the current season, which is also the maximum number of matches IPL used to conduct based on the old format, but we only have 1 team qualified for the Playoffs, the Gujarat Titans.

Kolkata’s big win against Sunrisers Hyderabad has kept them alive in the tournament even as they can only finish on 14 points. But a big loss to Sunrises Hyderabad has almost done and dusted their Playoffs qualification chances. Not that they can’t qualify, but their heavy negative NRR would be against them, and without a miracle, they can’t qualify even with 14 points. Even 1win suggests that SRH are the worst teams placed in the Playoffs race.

Top 4 Playoffs Race Analysis:

If we analyse the next 9 matches, the race for the Playoffs is only going to get interesting. The RR vs LSG match would decide the second qualifier. If Rajasthan Royals win, they would end up on 16 points, and will definitely qualify. Whereas a win for LSG will almost confirm their top 2 spot.

RCB will be facing the table-toppers Gujarat Titans in their upcoming final match. Given their poor NRR, they don’t have any other option but to win that match, and that too by a big margin to remain in the Playoffs race. It’s a tough task, but is very much possible. SRH too are similar situation as they need to win all their matches with 1 big win to remain in the Playoffs race.

PBKS may breathe a sigh of relief currently, but they face all knockout matches going forward. They need to win their upcoming matches, and any win going forward will almost knockout the opponents too. The DC vs PBKS match would be a virtual knock-out as the losing team would at the max end on 14 points. DC however might get one more shot against MI even if they lost against PBKS. As per the leading website, Betway, a loss for SRH reduces their winning odds to 101.0; the worst in the competition so far.

Orange Cap Race

The Orange Cap race is seeing the untouchable Jos Buttler seating comfortably at the number 1 position with 625 runs to his name. KL Rahul is a distant second with 459 runs to his name, and David Warner follows him with 427 runs. However, Jos Buttler has been slightly out of touch in the last few matches, and that would give KL Rahul and David Warner a good opportunity to catch up.

Here are the top 10 getters of IPL 2022 as of May 14
