One of the most prestigious cricket tournaments, aside from the ICC events, where there is extreme excitement and curiosity, the Asian Cricket Council’s is set to take place this year in the T20 format. The Asia Cup is usually scheduled in the format when the next major ICC event is scheduled to take place. Since 2026 will witness the ICC T20 World Cup, the Asia Cup will be played in T20 format this year.
The official dates for the event are not out yet, but the Asia Cup 2025 shall be played in the September 2025 window, where no major series are scheduled. The Asia Cup features some of the strongest cricketing nations from the Asian subcontinent. The 2025 edition of the tournament will feature 8 teams, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman, and the UAE.
Since the tournament also includes Pakistan, there’s a big chance of either the entire tournament getting cancelled, or the Indian Cricket Team opting out of the Asia Cup due to bad ties between the two countries, amidst recent conflict. However, there is no official news on this as yet, and that means the Asia Cup, which was also promoted by Sony recently, seems to be on. So, as we wait for the official tournament schedule, let’s in the meantime look at the strongest squad and players list for Team India for the Asia Cup 2025.
Asia Cup 2025 Strongest Squad for Team India Explained
Ever since Team India selected separate Captains for the T20Is and ODIs, and Tests, Team India have been playing a majorly different squad from the one they ideally would have played. Given that most of the bilateral T20I series were scheduled just before or after the Test series, most of the Test team players, who ideally would have been a part of the T20I squad, couldn’t participate in the T20Is. However, that won’t be the case when it comes to an event such as the Asia Cup.
Team India would ideally put forward their strongest squad, and that means, a few players who are a part of the Test setup should also be a part of the Asia Cup squad. Among the players who haven’t featured in T20Is off-late because of Test matches are Jasprit Bumrah, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant. These three players were a part of T20Is when there was no collision with Test matches, and hence should make a comeback for such an important tournament.
Asia Cup 2025 Cofirmed Players for Team India
Now, if we talk about the core of Team India aside from the above three players, we have Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson as performing openers for some time now. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma have done well in T20Is, and continue to be the key members of the team. Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel have established themselves as solid all-rounders. Whereas Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh have been the key bowlers for Team India.
So, with 11 players already identified, we now have to look for 4 more players, and a potential gap to fill. We now have a space for 1-2 more batters, another all-rounder possibly, and a couple of more bowlers. So, among the options, we can’t ignore the likes of Rinku Singh as a strong finisher in the team. Washignton Sundar has done well in the opportunities he has had. Whereas Harshit Rana and Kuldeep Yadav should complete the rest of the bowling lineup.

So, these are the strongest 15-member squad that Team India will put forward for the Asia Cup 2025. Aside from these 15 players, there is a possibility that a couple of more players, as the Asia Cup isn’t an ICC event, so teams can add more than 15 players as well. While India may or may not do that, in case they decide to add 2 more players, it should be Shivam Dube and Prasidh Krishna. Dube has been with the T20I team, and has done well too. Whereas Prasidh has improved a lot as a T20I bowler, so he should get a chance.

While we still have time for the Asia Cup as a couple of more T20I series are scheduled before that, and that means we can expect a few minor changes in the strongest squad shared above. Whatever the case, expect India to select at least 12-13 members from the above list for the Asia Cup 2025.
