Sunrisers Hyderabad retained the most number of players ahead of the IPL 2021 Auction.
With January 20, 2021, set as the deadline, all the teams have released their retained squad list ahead of the IPL 2021 Auction. Even with this not being a Mega Auction, the teams have been very prudent in terms of the amount some players were getting vis-a-vis the value they were adding. The release of these players only makes the purse of teams heavier.
The list of released players includes some very big overseas names in the form of Steve Smith, Sheldon Cottrell, Aaron Finch, Alex Carey, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Morris, Lasith Malinga, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, etc. The Indian players who carried big price tag being released in the Auction include Kedar Jadhav, Shivam Dube, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, K Gowtham, and Karun Nair.
While most of the teams have retained their core of players, Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore seem the only two teams to not have a good XI from the list of retained players. Overall, Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained the most number of players with 22, and Royal Challengers have retained the least number of players with 12 (+2 Traded).
Meanwhile, in terms of available purse amount, Kings XI Punjab have the maximum amount left with INR 53.2 Cr. They are followed by RCB at INR 35.7 Cr. (To be confirmed after Trade) and Rajasthan Royals with INR 34.9 Cr. Whereas SRH have the least amount, i.e INR 10.75 Cr.
