IPL 2024: Ranking All 10 Teams Playoffs Qualification Probability

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, the ideal contenders as we look at the best predicted top 4 Playoffs teams for IPL 2024.

IPL 2024 is currently in week 2, and we are already seeing some amazing brand of cricket. We have already completed 9 matches, and seven teams have registered at least one win. While the other three teams may not have registered a win, there’s no dearth of quality in any of the teams. The tournament has just started, and teams are only warming up before they get into the groove.

With most teams having played two matches, we are already aware of the best first-choice playing 11 that each team is going to play for most part of the tournament. So, how about we take the strongest playing 11 along with the impact player as the base, and analyze the 12 players to see which team if played to full potential can end up in the IPL 2024 Playoffs?

Again, this isn’t the most soundproof analysis as the game is not played on paper. But predictions are always done on paper, and what better than comparing those strong 12 names that are going to help you win the tournament? So, let’s look at the ranking of all 10 teams based on their IPL 2024 Playoffs qualification chance.

IPL 2024 Best Predicted Top 4 Playoffs Teams

#10 – Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 8.146

At number 10, we have the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team with a qualification rating of 8.16/10. RCB have a solid batting lineup that can damage the bowling lineup of any team. However, it is their bowling that significantly reduces their rating. The team has only Mohammed Siraj as their best bowler, and the others in the lineup like Yash Dayal, Alzarri, Dagar, etc., don’t match the quality of the opposition.

#9 – Gujarat Titans – 8.236

Number 9 sees the Gujarat Titans team with a qualification rating of 8.20/10. The departure of Hardik Pandya and the injury of Mohammed Shami impacts the quality of the GT team significantly. The team doesn’t have quality in each area, and is heavily dependent on a few stars like Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan. Thus, looking at the team composition, it looks very difficult for GT to qualify for Playoffs this season.

#8 – Sunrisers Hyderabad – 8.271

At number 8, we should see Sunrisers Hyderabad with a Playoffs qualification rating of 8.271/10. Now, SRH have had a good start to IPL 2024 with a good batting show. With Klaasen, Head, and Markram, SRH look pretty solid in the batting department. However, SRH lack big time when it comes to lower-order, and bowling quality overall. SRH have big names like Cummins, Bhuvi, and Natarajan. But quality is slightly inferior as compared to the top 7 teams.

#7 – Punjab Kings – 8.375

Punjab Kings may end up in the seventh position with their Playoffs qualification rating set at 8.375/10. Punjab Kings are a reverse case of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. PBKS have a fantastic bowling lineup, but is is their batting, that is slightly below-par as compared to the competitors. Overall, with a superb bowling attack, PBKS are only relying on a few batters like Dhawan, Bairstow, Livingstone, and Jitesh to take the most of the burden.

#6 – Delhi Capitals – 8.410

At number 6, we should see Delhi Capitals with a Playoffs qualification rating of 8.410/10. DC have a well-balanced attack in both, batting as well as bowling areas. But the only issue is, they don’t have an exceptional batter or bowler in the side. While the likes of Warner, Marsh, Pant, Axar, Nortje, or Kuldeep are good, they aren’t in the league of Bumrah, KL Rahul, Klaasen, Russell, or Jadeja. Hence, the team will need exceptional effort to make it to Playoffs.

#5 – Lucknow Super Giants – 8.438

At Number 5, we have Lucknow Super Giants with a Playoffs qualification rating of 8.438/10. LSG are riding in the same boat as Royal Challengers Bengaluru with a stunning batting lineup, but a below-par bowling lineup. The only difference between the two is that Lucknow Super Giants have a slightly better batting lineup, and an almost similar bowling lineup.

#4 – Chennai Super Kings –  8.521

Finally, coming to the fourth team that will make it to the Playoffs this year, it is the Chennai Super Kings with a Playoffs qualification rating of 8.521/10. CSK have a well-balanced side like Delhi Capitals, and with 7 matches at home, they have a team that can go on to win all 7 matches. However, it is perfect by any means. The team is still dependent on a few youngsters like Rachin Ravindra, Sameer Rizvi, and Tushar Deshpande to make an impact. But with CSK, you can always expect better performance from all their players.

#3 – Kolkata Knight Riders – 8.576

At number 3, we should see Kolkata Knight Riders, who have a really strong side with potential match-winners in each department. KKR have a strong batting unit with the likes of Andre Russell and Rinku Singh donning the finishing duties, and some really strong names in the batting department in the top 5. In addition, spin will be KKR’s main arsenal, and they have some really quality spinners in their side. Overall, KKR have a great chance of finishing in the top 4.

#2 – Rajasthan Royals – 8.604

At number 2, we have the Rajasthan Royals team, which seems to be utilizing the impact player rule in the best possible way. The opportunity to bat first in both innings meant Rovman Powell didn’t get to play any of the matches as the other 7 batters did the job for RR. Without Powell, RR could afford to play an extra bowler, and that has really helped them. Overall, if this persists, RR have a really strong chance to end up in the top 4.

#1 – Mumbai Indians – 8.653

Finally, a little controversial call given the current situation of Mumbai Indians, but honestly, the team is really strong on paper. The loss in the first two matches mostly boils down to the poor utilization of resources and some surprising captaincy calls by Hardik  Pandya. But given the potential the MI team has, it would be a shocker if they don’t end up in the top 4. Again, on paper, there is absolutely no doubt that they would not end up in the top 4, but they will have to back it up with performance.

So, that’s about the ranking of all 10 teams basis their playoffs qualification score for IPL 2024. Overall, CSK, MI, KKR, and RR look the best to qualify for the Playoffs. But LSG and Delhi Capitals are not too far behind in terms of quality. So, if at all we see a surprise in this, it will be MI, who can shock everyone with their below-par performance as seen so far.
