Mumbai Indians, the undisputed king in our ranking of the best 6-a-side squad list for all 10 teams for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. 

The IPL 2025 is off to a flying start, and the game has evolved so much that even 300 runs don’t seem far out of reach. Alongside SRH, who seem to be the pioneers in terms of playing aggressive cricket, most of the teams are equipped with at least 3-4 quality hitters in their side, who can come close to scoring 300 runs, if not surpass it. However, that also means the IPL 2025 will be a nightmare for the bowlers, as was the case in 2024.

Meanwhile, we are already in the second week of the IPL 2025, and teams are getting closer to finalizing their best playing 11. Given this year we had seen a Mega Auction, most teams have a right balance in their squad in terms of having quality batters and bowlers. A team needs 7-8 good batting options, and 5-6 good bowling options in their side, but even after that, sometimes, assembling a team of 11 quality players becomes difficult.

However, almost every team has at least 5-6 quality players in their side that shape the team’s image. Hence, if these teams were to play a 6-a-side match, they would be far more competitive and dangerous. Since IPL isn’t standardized for such a format, we will tweak the rules a bit. So, for a 6-a-side match, each team will need at least 1 WK, 3 bowling options, and a maximum of 2 Overseas players. So, let’s analyze the squad of each team, and find out the ranking of the best 6-a-side squad list of all 10 teams for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

#10: Lucknow Super Giants 

Number 10 belongs to the LSG team, and despite playing only 6 players, their best squad is devoid of a quality All-rounder. Mitchell Marsh can surely play in place of David Miller, but they don’t have a quality Indian batter to compensate for that. Hence, 3 batters + 3 bowlers is the combination they will have to play. Moreover, the bowling looks weak with Shardul, Bishnoi, and Mayank as the first-choice options.

#9: Gujarat Titans

For number 9, we have the Gujarat Titans team, and again, a lack of a quality all-rounder keeps them at this position. Rahul Tewatia invariably will have to play in the side, and will have to bowl. While GT’s batting looks solid, Rashid Khan is the only good bowler in the side, and thus, the Gujarat Titans team looks marginally weaker with respect to their 6-a-side squad.

#8: Rajasthan Royals

At number 8, we have the Rajasthan Royals team, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise, given their team combination. Technically, as compared to GT, Hasaranga is a better bowler, and that gives them three good bowling options. The batting has Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Riyan, and Hasaranga and Archer, which gives them good batting depth. It’s a decent team, only if each player plays to full potential.

#7: Delhi Capitals

Number 7 belongs to the Delhi Capitals team, and bowling is what differentiates this Delhi Capitals team. KL Rahul, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Axar Patel, and Ashutosh Sharma form good batting options. For bowling, Delhi have three solid bowling options in the form of Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel. It’s a good team, and the only drawbacks are the consistency of Fraser-McGurk and the inexperience of Ashutosh Sharma.

Number 6 belongs to the Punjab Kings team, and they are facing the problem of plenty. There are many quality Overseas players in the side, but to suit the balance, Marco Jansen as the third bowling all-rounder seems ideal. Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal are solid bowling options, and the team can afford to play Josh Inglis as the keeper in place of Prabsirmran Singh to give them good batting options.

#5: Royal Challengers Bengaluru

At number 5, we have the RCB team, and there is a solid mix of batting and bowling options in the side. Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, Rajat Patidar, and Krunal Pandya provide solid batting depth in the side. Whereas for the bowling, the team has two solid bowling pacers, Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, with support from Krunal Pandya. Certainly, this RCB side would do well if they were to play a six-a-side tournament.

#4: Chennai Super Kings

Number 4 belongs to the CSK team, and the team has four good batting options, and three solid bowling options. Given the presence of solid Indian players, Matheesha Pathirana and Noor Ahmad shall lead the bowling duties, and Ravindra Jadeja will play as the third bowler. The batting looks solid too with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, and MS Dhoni donning that role.

Between Narine and Russell, Narine seems a better bet, purely for his bowling abilities, and solid firepower at the top. The batting looks solid with Rahane and Rinku supporting de Kock and Narine, and the bowling has Chakravarthy and Harshit in addition to Narine.

#2: Sunrisers Hyderabad

Number 2 belongs to the ruthless Sunrisers Hyderabad team. Such is the aura of this side that even in a 6-a-side match, they can afford to play Head, Abhishek, Kishan, and Klaasen in the side. While bowling look slightly weaker with Abhishek as one of the bowlers, but such powerful batting can compensate for their bowling any day. Also, it’s unfortunate, but due to Overseas restrictions, Cummins will have to miss out, and Head will lead the side.

So, we have Ryan as the keeper, and Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya solid batters in the squad. In the bowling department, we have Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Hardik; thus making them the best team on paper.
