Team India are currently on their first full tour after IPL 2022, and their destination is England. The tour has a One-off Test match, which will be followed by a 3-match T20 and ODI Series. While the T20 series does have a lot of significance with T20 World Cup 2022 in mind, the ODI series doesn’t hold much significance except for a normal practice session for ODI WC 2023.

The ODI series vs England begins on July 12; just after the T20 series, and will continue until July 17. After a long time, we will finally witness the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. The pair has been one of the most successful opening pairs for Team India in ODIs, and has been a constant opening pair in ODIs since 2013. It would be an encouraging moment for cricket fans who have been waiting for a long time to see Dhawan and Rohit play together.

Middle-order: Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav & Rishabh Pant

Coming to the middle-order, Team India would miss KL Rahul at number 5. Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer will compete for this spot in the middle-order, but Suryakumar’s position seems stronger. Suryakumar Yadav seems an ideal replacement, who can play the role of the aggressor smoothly.

Other than Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant shall donn the wicket-keeping duties, and Virat Kohli will play at his usual position, number 3. Both are potential players for the 2023 ODI World Cup, and their form and performance will be crucial for Team India’s success. If these 3 perform well, it would be a good headache with KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in contention as well. 

All-rounders: Hardik Pandya & Ravindra Jadeja

Coming to the all-rounders, Team India would be extremely happy to see Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja play together. Both are the leading all-rounders in India, and unless for injury concerns, we should see both, Hardik and Jaddu play together not just for the 2022 T20 World Cup but also for the 2023 ODI World Cup. 

Bowlers: Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah & Yuzvendra Chahal

What bowling combination will Team India adopt will be interesting to see. Ideally, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Yuzvendra Chahal should be confirmed starters. All three are senior bowlers, and will lead the bowling attack. But who will support these 3 would be an interesting lookout for Team India. 

Team India have four pacers and all-rounder, Axar Patel, as the options for the fourth bowling option. But India won’t play another spinner in English condition. Whereas from the four pacers, Shardul, Arshdeep, Prasidh, and Siraj are the options. From these four, Shardul Thakur looks set to play. He is an experienced bowler, and with India needing a death bowling option, Shardul seems the best bet.
