IPL 2021: Final Squad List for all the Teams and Key Auction Highlights

Mumbai Indians once again look the strongest as we look at the updated and final squad of all the teams for IPL 2021. 

February 18, 2021 witnessed probably the hottest mini Auction ever in the history of IPL. Teams were willing to spend a humongous amount to acquire the services of a few players to fill in their specific squad gaps. As a result, the Tournament also witnessed the costliest buy ever in the history of IPL Auction in the form of Chris Morris at INR 1625L. 

Overall, a total of 57 players were sold in the Auction including 22 overseas players. A total of 145.3 crores was spent on players with RCB spending the most at INR 35.05 crores and SRH spending the least at INR 3.8 crores. In terms of squad, Punjab Kings bought 9 players; the most by any team, whereas SRH bought only 3; the least by any team. 

Chris Morris was the star of the Auction having sold for a record INR 16.25 crores; the most expensive buy ever in the history of IPL. Kyle Jamieson followed him with INR 15 crores, Glenn Maxwell then with INR 14.25 crores, and Jhye Richardson with INR 14 crores. For India, Krishnappa Gowtham was the most expensive buy with INR 9.25 crores. 

Meanwhile, the legend, Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar was sold to Mumbai Indians at his base price of INR 20L. Overall, it seems, teams have done a terrific job to address their gaps.
