A magical spell of 4-40 including a sensational hat-trick from Mohammed Shami seals it for Team India as they win a thrilling encounter against Afghanistan at World Cup 2019. 

Afghanistan team were on the top of the game for almost the 97 overs, before Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami pulled it off for Team India.

Batting first, Team India didn’t have a good start as both the openers failed to score on a rather sluggish pitch. Kohli, however, batted as if he was playing on a completely different pitch. While others struggled to reach a strike rate of 75, Kohli played a superb knock of 67(63) with a strike rate of more than 100.

Spinners played a superb role for Afghanistan as they restricted India to a decent score of 224-8 in 50 overs.

Chasing 225, Afghanistan were going decently as they kept the NRR intact. However, the only issue with their approach was the inability to build big partnerships.

Team India didn’t let the game slip through as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. With 24 needed from last 3 overs, and Mohammed Nabi still at the crease, It felt as if he would pull off an incredible win for Afghanistan. However, a ‘Yorkerish’ spell from Bumrah and Shami proved lethal as Team India won the match by 11 runs.

For India, Mohammed Shami bowled a fantastic last over that includes a sensational hat-trick, while Bumrah, Pandya and Chahal took 2 wickets each.
